Use of plastic cards to purchase goods and services in East Africa is on the rise, as consumers shift from cash and cheques, latest statistics show. However, the value of the transactions is way below that of leading economies in Africa. For example, Botswana has 700,000 Visa cards but transactions are valued at $650 million annually, compared with Kenya’s three million plastic cards with transactions worth $350 million over the same period.

As some of you may be aware, ESBC has over the past 3 years been working to support a Children’s Home in Machakos called Terry’s Children and Youth Resource Centre.
Please see highlights of what we have been able to achieve with them over the past 2years;
We have been able to install running water in the home enabling them grow enough food for themselves and even have some left over to sell to the community around them. This has allowed the children more time in the evenings and weekend to read and play.
We have been able to assist them meet their monthly expenses; as such...
