As some of you may be aware, ESBC has over the past 3 years been working to support a Children’s Home in Machakos called Terry’s Children and Youth Resource Centre.

Please see highlights of what we have been able to achieve with them over the past 2years;

• We have been able to install running water in the home enabling them grow enough food for themselves and even have some left over to sell to the community around them.  This has allowed the children more time in the evenings and weekend to read and play.

• We have been able to assist them meet their monthly expenses; as such they are always assured of a meal in the morning and evening and that the home runs without a hitch.
• Through the vegetable gardens they have been able to improve the children’s school feeding programme whose numbers are growing by the day.
• We have been able to find a donor to help them acquire more land on which to farm towards self sustainability and expand on activities in the home for the overall improvement of the children.

We are currently working on finding a partner to set up a crisis center and renovate their kitchen.

Each year in December we make a visit to the home to celebrate Christmas with them.  Please do join us as we celebrate this Christmas with them on the 10^th of December 2011 in Kathini, Machakos (details at our reception).

If you are not able to come down with us and would like us to take something down on your behalf please drop them in the boxes provided in the lounge.  As a guide, bar soap and sanitary towels are at the top of their priority list. If you would like to give a cash donation please do so at the reception and you will receive an acknowledgement note from us.  Please don’t drop cash in the boxes J
